News Topical, Digital Desk : Police have arrested the owner and manager of a guest house in North Goa district in connection with the rape of three minor girls. So far, a total of four people have been arrested in this case. According to officials, these girls aged 11, 13 and 15 years, living in the same building, were raped by two people in a guest house located in Calangute area on June 7 and 8. According to officials, all five had come together to stay in the guest house. Among these, the two elder girls are sisters.

Police rescued the girls safely from the guest house

The family of the victim girls had lodged a complaint on June 8 that the girls were missing since the previous day. The police formed several teams and rescued the girls safely from the guest house on the same day and arrested two youths, 19-year-old Altaf Mujawar and 21-year-old Om Naik. The police have collected the entry records of the hotel, CCTV footage and statements of eyewitnesses as evidence.

Why were the guest house owner and manager arrested?

Superintendent of Police Rahul Gupta said the guest house owner, Rajat Chauhan (31), and manager Mansoor Peer (35), were arrested on Wednesday night. He said they were arrested for violating the law and promoting crime by keeping minor girls in the guest house without the consent and verification of their parents.

Room booked for Eid and Birthday party

Goa Police said that the accused and the victims are all friends. Rooms were booked in a hotel for Eid and birthday parties. All of them had come to celebrate birthdays. Then taking advantage of the situation, the friends made their own friends victims of lust and the girls were raped forcefully.

Guest house sealed, license will be cancelled

Police said that a case has been registered against the four accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Goa Children Act. The SP said, "We are sealing the guest house and action is being taken to cancel its license. If the guest house manager and owner give a room to a child in the absence of his family or relatives, they will not be spared."
