News Topical, Digital Desk : After the flight was delayed at Pune airport, SpiceJet passengers created a ruckus over the quality of food served, a video of which has surfaced. In the video, it can be seen that a crowd of angry passengers surrounded a SpiceJet employee and demanded him to eat the same food that was served to them. In the video, the airline employee is seen eating food in front of the crowd. However, the airline later denied the passengers' allegations about the quality of food.

"Is the food for animals or for humans"

Despite being more than two weeks old, this video recently went viral on social media when an account named 'Woke Eminent' posted it on X. In the video, an angry passenger can be seen asking the SpiceJet employee to eat the food served to him. The passenger is saying, "Eat the food, so that we can also know whether this food is for animals or humans." A passenger is asking, "Is this biryani?" The passenger is telling the airline employee, “This is inside the airport authority, if it was outside, I would have stuffed this food inside your mouth. You will fool the public by distributing food of experts for Rs 50.”

SpiceJet issued a statement on the incident

SpiceJet in its response said, "We strongly refute the claims being made in respect of the video in question, which is more than two weeks old. The food served to the passengers was fresh and of good quality. It was procured from an authorised vendor who supplies packaged food not only to SpiceJet but also to several other airlines operating at the airport as well as to customers within the terminal."

"The behaviour shown towards the employees is unacceptable"

SpiceJet further said in its statement, "Our ground staff perform their responsibilities diligently and to the best of their abilities. The incident captured in the video is extremely unfortunate and the behaviour displayed towards our employees is unacceptable and reprehensible. As is clearly visible, SpiceJet's ground staff remained polite, respectful and professional despite being subjected to verbal abuse and unnecessary physical conduct. We stand firmly with our employees and condemn any form of abuse or aggression against them." According to media reports, the incident pertained to SpiceJet flight SG-8124, which was headed to Delhi and was delayed by over 7 hours, leaving passengers frustrated and tired.
