News Topical, Digital Desk : Sajib Wazed Zay, son of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has acquired US citizenship. He took the oath of citizenship in Washington DC and received the certificate on Saturday.

 

After receiving the certificate, he also applied for a passport. A total of 22 persons from different countries attended the swearing-in ceremony. Among them, three people of Bangladeshi origin including Jay were present. He also brought a lawyer with him.

 

Bangladeshi passport cancelled

Zay was the second of three Bangladeshis to be sworn in. Awami League leader and former State Minister for Information Muhammad Ali Arafat said Sajib's Bangladeshi passport was illegally cancelled by Yunus' interim government.

In this situation, he had to obtain an American passport. He said that the passport was needed to travel outside the US.
