News Topical, Digital Desk : Amidst the growing tension between the US, Israel and Iran in West Asia, renowned American economist Jeffrey Sachs has issued a stern warning to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He said that if the UAE gets involved in the war, its major cities Dubai and Abu Dhabi could be in danger.

These cities are built for tourism and entertainment, not military bases. Dubai and Abu Dhabi could be bombed.

Iran threatens UAE

Jeffrey Sachs said that if the UAE were to enter the war, Dubai and Abu Dhabi could be blown up. These are resort areas, tourist destinations where wealthy people come to party and invest. These places lack missile defense systems. Turning these cities into war zones would defeat their very purpose.

Sachs accused the UAE of having gotten itself into absurd trouble by aligning with the US and Israel and now getting further into it. He said the UAE is doubling down on its mistakes.

Abraham Accords invite disaster

Sachs described the Gulf countries' signing of the Abraham Accords with the US and Israel as an invitation to disaster. He said that these countries staked everything on American security. They said, "We have American military bases, they will protect us. Therefore, we can do whatever we want." This is a fundamental misunderstanding.

He echoed former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger's famous quote, "Being America's enemy is dangerous, but being its friend is deadly." Sachs believes that Gulf countries relied so much on American security that they neglected their own. This strategy is now backfiring.

Iran's warning

Tensions are also rising from Iran's side. On March 20, the Iranian Foreign Ministry warned countries in West Asia not to allow US military bases in their territory to be used to attack Iran. Iran stated that these bases are the root of the current crisis.

If attacks are carried out from these bases, the countries involved will be considered partners in aggression and may have to face the consequences.

Gulf countries' growing concern

On the other hand, Gulf countries have condemned Iran's attacks on their energy infrastructure. The UAE, Saudi Arabia, and other countries appear to be aligning more strongly with the United States. Some reports suggest that these countries are preparing to take a more active role in the conflict.

While there has been no confirmation of full-scale war, Iran has launched drone and missile attacks on Gulf countries, further escalating tensions in the region.
