Birth of Siddhārta - According to religious and historical texts, Siddhārta was born on the full moon day of the month of Vaisakha in Lumbini (modern Nepal) as the son of King Shuddhodhan and Queen Mahamaya, who later came to be known as Mahatma Buddha.
Attainment of Enlightenment - On the full moon day of the month of Vaishakha, Siddhartha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya , after which he became known as the Buddha. Gautama Buddha was only 35 years old at the time, and through his teachings, he showed the world the right path.
Mahaparinirvana — Mahaparinirvana means "final nirvana," meaning complete liberation from the cycle of birth and death. It was on Vaikhas Purnima that Mahatma Buddha renounced worldly bonds and attained Mahaparinirvana in Kushinagar (Uttar Pradesh) .
