News Topical, Digital Desk : A wealthy engineer has been exposed in Belgaum, Karnataka. Lokayukta raided the house of this engineer and recovered a huge amount of gold and silver. Apart from this, a large number of property papers have been recovered.

What is the whole matter?

Lokayukta raids at project engineer's residence lead to huge amount of assets found. In a major action, Lokayukta officials raided the residence of Chief Engineer Ashok Valsand in Ramtirtha Nagar, Belagavi. Raids were also conducted at his residence in Dharwad.

During the search, the officials recovered 1 kg 80 grams of gold worth about ₹92.7 lakh and 3.5 kg of silver worth about ₹3.96 lakh. Apart from this, ₹1.5 lakh cash has been recovered. A large number of property documents and property papers have been recovered. The Lokayukta team is carefully examining each document and item seized during the raid.

In March also, news had come out about an officer having immense wealth

A similar news also came out in March 2025. A senior official of the transport department in Odisha was arrested and was accused of acquiring a huge number of properties like 3 multi-storey buildings, three flats, 11 plots and a farmhouse. 

The moneyed officer was found in possession of 3 multi-storey buildings, 3 flats, 11 plots, a farmhouse (spread over 14.78 acres), agricultural land over 11 acres, 2.1 kg gold biscuits and jewellery, Rs 1 crore (paid to buy the flats), a bank balance of Rs 17 lakh, 2 cars and Rs 17.55 lakh in cash.

Gold biscuits and jewellery weighing 2.1 kg, Rs 1 crore paid for purchasing a plush flat in Bhubaneswar, bank deposits worth Rs 17 lakh, two four-wheelers and Rs 17.55 lakh in cash were also seized from him.
