News Topical, Digital Desk : The 2006 comedy film "Bhaagam Bhaag" featured a strong chemistry between Akshay Kumar, Govinda, and Paresh Rawal. A sequel is now on the way, and the cast remains a subject of considerable suspense. According to the latest reports, the upcoming film will feature a major change in the trio.

Manoj Bajpayee will replace Govinda

According to media reports, the makers have signed powerhouse performer Manoj Bajpayee to play a key role in the sequel. However, there's a twist to this news. Bajpayee will replace Hero No. 1 superstar Govinda in the film. This change marks a significant departure from the original lineup, as Govinda's superb comic timing was a major factor in the first film's success.

Govinda has been largely absent from the big screen since his 2019 project Rangeela Raja, while fans were hoping for a nostalgic reunion. The production is moving in a different creative direction. Directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, the sequel will retain the fiery energy of the original Priyadarshan classic while also presenting a fresh story. The story is expected to revolve around the familiar concept of mistaken identity and ensuing confusion, ensuring the spirit of the original film remains intact despite the change of characters.

Production details and new faces

Joining Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal is actress Meenakshi Chaudhary, who will be making her return to Hindi cinema as the female lead. Chaudhary, last seen in Upstarts (2019), has been paired opposite Akshay Kumar. Interestingly, the search for the female lead opposite Manoj Bajpayee is still ongoing.

There will be a different experiment for Manoj Bajpayee

While fans await official confirmation from the production house regarding this casting change, work has already begun. The film is set to begin shooting next month in Mumbai. For Akshay Kumar, 'Bhagam Bhaag 2' is just one part of a long slate of comedy films, including Bhoot Bangla, Welcome to the Jungle, and Golmaal 5. For Bajpayee, entering the high-octane world of a commercial comedy film alongside Kumar and Rawal is an exciting opportunity to showcase his versatility in a genre he doesn't often work in.
