News Topical, Digital Desk : Ranveer Singh and Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar 2 has broken records in terms of non-theatrical business. It has become one of the biggest deals of the last few years. Dhurandhar: The Revenge has earned ₹245 crore from its non-theatrical rights, which is a new record and shows the franchise's tremendous commercial appeal.
Dhurandhar 2 hits a double century on OTT
According to sources close to the development, the digital streaming rights for Dhurandhar 2 have been acquired by Jio Hotstar for ₹150 crore, while the satellite rights (in all languages) have been acquired by Star Network for ₹50 crore. Further adding to the deal, the music rights have been acquired by T-Series for ₹45 crore, taking the film's total non-theatrical value to unprecedented levels.
Despite satellite revenues declining in recent years, this deal has the highest non-theatrical valuation of all time and has become one of the top non-theatrical deals in Hindi cinema till date.
Dhurandhar also got a bumper deal
It's worth noting that the non-theatrical rights of Dhurandhar Part 1 were also sold for a whopping ₹140 crore. With Dhurandhar 2 earning ₹240 crore, the sequel has doubled its earnings. Jio Studios' total profits from both Dhurandhar films are impressive.
It's worth noting that Dhurandhar was released on Netflix after its theatrical release, but now the second part will be released on Jio Hotstar. This time, Jio Hotstar has acquired the rights to the film. Dhurandhar 2 stars Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, and Sara Ali Khan. Whether Akshay Khanna will be in Part 2 is not yet confirmed.
