News Topical, Digital Desk : On the orders of the Supreme Court, the Housing and Development Council team has begun sealing 44 illegal properties. The team, which arrived at Central Market on Wednesday morning, faced strong protests.

The traders said that the Housing Development Board has collected ₹70 crore in land use change fees. They demanded an accounting for this amount. They accused Housing Development Board officials of corruption.

The sealing operation in the market is currently on hold. So far, the team has sealed eight illegal constructions, including two hospitals and two schools.

A list of 44 properties was sent to the SC

On April 6, the council submitted a list of 44 properties to the Supreme Court. These residential plots are being used exclusively for commercial purposes, including schools, hospitals, banks, and wedding halls.

Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice KV Vishwanathan have expressed deep concern in the order about schools and hospitals running in illegal buildings.

He said that if anything untoward happens to the small children studying there and the patients admitted in the hospitals, then the concerned officers will be personally responsible.
