New Delhi: Supreme Court Chief Justice DY Chandrachud on Monday laid the foundation stone of the new complex of Bombay High Court in Bandra area of Mumbai. CM Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar were also present at the ceremony. At the ceremony, the CJI said that even though the judiciary is completely independent, the court stands with the government regarding the budget and infrastructure of the court.
We are with the government on the issue of budget: CJI
There should be no doubt that judges of the Supreme Court and the High Courts do their work with complete independence, but when it comes to budget and infrastructure, we stand with the government. These are not personal projects for judges, the CJI said, as reported by Bar and Bench.

At the same time, Chief Minister Shinde said that the government will always support the judiciary whenever it comes to new infrastructure or any other project like digitization of courts etc. The Chief Minister also stressed on the increasing crimes against women in the state and said that the government has 'strengthened the system' to ensure speedy justice for women.
