News Topical, Digital Desk : Who can forget Feroz Khan, the legendary actor and director of Hindi cinema ? On April 27, 2009, this industry legend bid farewell to the world forever. Today, on Feroz's death anniversary, we're going to tell you the story of a blockbuster from his career, which ran in theaters for 105 days.

Released 51 years ago, Feroz Khan's film redefined Bollywood. Let's find out which movie is being discussed in this article.

Feroz Khan's blockbuster film

Feroz Khan, who entered Hindi cinema as a lead actor with the 1960 film Ghar Ki Laaj, had to wait many years for his first hit film. The film Unche Log (1965) was Feroz's first successful film as an actor. But if any film brought him the greatest popularity, it was Dharmatma. Released in 1975, Dharmatma is considered the most successful film of Feroz Khan's career.

Following the success of the film Apraad, Feroz Khan took on the triple responsibility of producer, director, and actor in Dharmatma. According to IMDb, Dharmatma, starring Hema Malini, Rekha, Danny Denzongpa, and Prem Nath, ran continuously for 15 weeks at Delhi's Liberty Cinema.

This meant that Feroz's film kept audiences entertained in theaters for approximately 105 days. Furthermore, Dharmatma also performed exceptionally well commercially at the box office.

This led to Feroz Khan's film being considered the highest-grossing Hindi film of the year for nearly three months in 1975. However, its position dropped slightly after the release of successful films like Sholay and Jai Santoshi Maa on August 15, 1975.

Inspired by Hollywood movie

Feroz Khan's "Dharamatma" is said to be inspired by Hollywood's all-time blockbuster "The Godfather." It is believed that with this film, Feroz Khan introduced the Hindi version of "The Godfather" to Indian audiences.
