News Topical, Digital Desk : Despite a ceasefire, Israel attacked eastern Lebanon on Monday. The ceasefire, initiated by US President Donald Trump on April 16, halted fighting between Israeli forces and Hezbollah fighters. But, like previous ceasefires, this time too, the halt in fighting lasted only a few days.

Israel's latest attack, outside Hezbollah-held southern Lebanon, took place in the eastern Bekaa Valley. An Israeli military spokesman said it was the beginning of an assault on Hezbollah infrastructure in the Bekaa Valley.

Israel bombed several places

According to sources, the attack targeted the town of Nabi Chit, near the Syrian border, and several locations there were bombed. There were no reports of casualties.

It is known that the Israeli army has penetrated several kilometers into southern Lebanon, captured a strip of land there, and is launching attacks from there. In response, Hezbollah is attacking Israeli troops in the Lebanese strip and northern Israel with drones and rockets. In the latest attack, an Israeli tank was targeted by a Hezbollah drone.

Hezbollah held responsible for the unrest

Following the breakdown of the ceasefire, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun defended the government's stance, saying he favored peace in the country. He blamed Hezbollah, without naming it, for the unrest.
