News Topical, Digital Desk : Traffic jams will no longer occur at the Engineering College intersection, as a flyover will be constructed here starting in May. The construction agency has begun moving its machinery to a yard outside the city. Workers have also begun measuring the area around the Engineering College intersection.
The Public Works Department's NH branch is constructing this flyover. It is expected to be completed in a year and a half to two and a quarter years. It will be 960 meters long and will cost approximately ₹108 crore. Regional MLA Dr. Neeraj Bora has been working to get this flyover built for several years.
During the inauguration of Khurramnagar flyover by Defence Minister and MP Rajnath Singh, the Defence Minister had proposed the Engineering College intersection in front of Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, the MLA had also written a letter to Nitin Gadkari demanding the same.
Now it is going to be built. The foot over bridge built here was creating an obstacle in the path of the flyover being built at the Engineering College intersection, now the Public Works Department will remove it permanently. With the construction of the flyover, the speed of vehicles between Ayodhya Road and Sitapur Road will improve further. The NH branch of the Public Works Department has completed all the formalities at its level. The concerned departments have also been directed to shift the lines of Electricity Department and Jalkal. The objective is that there should not be any damage during the construction, which may cause inconvenience to the common citizens.
According to locals, the four-lane flyover will provide direct access to Ayodhya Road from the IIM Road flyover via Madiyanv flyover, Engineering College flyover, Teedi Pulia flyover, Khurramnagar flyover, Munshi Pulia flyover and Polytechnic flyover.
According to the officials, with this facility, the traffic from the High Court to Sitapur Road will reduce to a great extent and the vehicles will also gain speed.

The construction of a flyover at the Engineering College intersection will provide relief to the five lakh population living around Vikas Nagar, Khurramnagar, Gudamba, Jankipuram and Jankipuram Extension and the traffic jam on the service lane will be controlled to a great extent.
