News Topical, Digital Desk : US President Donald Trump has demanded that ABC immediately fire Jimmy Kimmel over a joke the late-night host made last week about First Lady Melania Trump, calling her a "pregnant widow."

The comments, made during a monologue skit on Thursday, have once again come under the spotlight following the shooting at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner on Saturday.

What did Trump say?

Trump posted on Truthout Social on Monday: "Wow, Jimmy Kimmel proves with his poor television ratings that he's no fun at all. He made a statement on his show that is truly shocking. He showed a fake video of First Lady Melania and our son Barron, as if they were actually sitting in his studio listening to him speak, which they weren't and never will be."

"Then he said, 'Here's our First Lady Melania. Look at Melania, how beautiful she is. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow on your face like a pregnant widow would have,'" Trump said.

He added, “I don't normally react to anything he says, but this matter has crossed all limits. Disney and ABC should fire Jimmy Kimmel immediately. Thank you all for your attention to this matter! President Donald J. Trump.”

Melania called Kimmel a coward

Earlier on Monday, the First Lady strongly criticized Kimmel, urging the network to take a firm stance against him and calling him a coward. ABC has yet to comment.
