News Topical, Digital Desk : Amla is considered very beneficial for health. It is one of the best sources of Vitamin C. Eating it boosts immunity, improves digestion, benefits skin and hair, and maintains heart health. However, despite these benefits, amla can cause harm to some people (Amla Side Effects).

Yes, amla is not beneficial for everyone. Therefore, those who should avoid amla should either avoid it or consume it in very limited quantities.

Low blood pressure patients

Amla is known for its blood pressure-lowering properties. While it's beneficial for high blood pressure patients, it can be harmful for those who already have low blood pressure or are taking low-blood-pressure medications. Consuming it in large quantities can further lower their blood pressure, leading to dizziness, weakness, and fainting.

Those who eat Amla on an empty stomach

Amla is considered cooling in nature, and its vitamin C and other acidic compounds can be irritating for sensitive stomachs. Drinking amla or amla juice on an empty stomach can cause acidity, gastritis, or heartburn. Therefore, it should always be consumed after meals or after eating something.

Patients taking diabetes medication

Amla helps lower blood sugar levels . However, patients already taking diabetes medications should consume amla in limited quantities. The combined effect of the medication and amla  can lower blood sugar levels beyond normal levels, increasing the risk of hypoglycemia. Such patients should consult their doctor before consuming amla.

Patients before surgery

Because amla affects both blood sugar and blood pressure, it should be avoided before any surgery. This is to avoid problems controlling blood sugar and blood pressure during and after surgery.

People with bleeding disorders

Amla can also act as a blood thinner. Therefore, people with bleeding disorders like hemophilia or those taking blood-thinning medications should limit their intake of amla. This can increase the risk of bleeding that persists after an injury or internal bleeding.
