Dehradun: Uttarakhand Weather: 16 people are reported missing in the landslide caused by cloudburst and heavy rain on the Kedarnath footpath on Wednesday night. One thousand pilgrims are still stranded in Kedarnath Dham.

More than 4000 pilgrims stranded at various stops were evacuated by NDRF, SDRF and police and taken to safe places. Out of these, 700 were rescued by helicopter. The remaining stranded passengers are being rescued. Superintendent of Police Rudraprayag Dr. Vishakha Bhadane said their search is underway. Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, 11 people have died in rain-related accidents across the state.

To rescue the passengers stranded on the Shri Kedarnath Yatra route, SDRF Uttarakhand jawans carried out rescue operations till late at night and safely brought 450 passengers from the Munkatiya area to Sonprayag. The rescue operation will continue today as well.The weather department has also predicted one or two rounds of heavy rain on Friday. An orange alert for heavy rain has been issued in Uttarkashi. Heavy rain with thunder may occur in Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Dehradun, Bageshwar and Nainital.

Record rainfall causes trouble in Doon, disaster like situation in many places

On the other hand, the rain on Wednesday night wreaked havoc in Doon. Due to heavy rain, not only the rivers and streams were in spate, but roads and squares were also submerged. In some places, water and debris entered the houses, while in other places, the movement came to a halt due to waterlogging in the streets. Roads were damaged, houses were damaged, and in many places, the system collapsed due to the falling of electric poles and trees.

The wall collapsed in Himadri Avenue Lane Number One. Due to soil erosion in the Ladpur area, a house was in danger of collapsing. Due to the collapse of the slope in Kesharwala, debris came near the colony. Due to the damage to the culvert in Saraswati Vihar E-Block, the houses of Vijay Kumar Paswan and Abhilasha Prabha were in danger. At the same time, goods were damaged in Rajendra Badthwal's house in Mianwala due to the entry of rainwater and debris.

Heavy waterlogging was in Chaudhary Colony on Haridwar Road, and the streets in Shanti Vihar near Haridwar Bypass remained submerged. In Chandrabani Choyla, debris flowing from the forest spreads on the road, which is why there is a danger of vehicles getting into accidents.

The road was damaged due to soil erosion in Maldevta area, some electric poles were also washed away. A culvert collapsed in the Vaibhav Vihar area of ​​Nawada. Its debris spread on the road. On the other hand, the road was blocked due to the washing away of a culvert in the Gangotri Enclave of Nawada ward. The wall of Nawada Panchayat Bhawan also collapsed due to heavy rain.

Dharampur MLA visited the affected areas.

Dharampur MLA Vinod Chamoli took stock of the damage caused by heavy rains in areas like Mothorwala, Dakota, Daudwala, Nauka etc. Taking information about the damage from the area's people, the MLA directed the tehsil officials to prepare a list of the names of the affected people and provide them with financial assistance.

Meanwhile, due to waterlogging and damage to the road between Mothorwala and Nauka, the road was repaired by using two JCBs. When a complex operator blocked the drainage of a drain by placing bricks, the MLA opened the drainage by using a JCB on the spot and instructed the officials to write a letter to MDDA to take action against the concerned complex operator.

Choudhary Colony became a pond

Due to heavy rains, waterlogging occurred in Chaudhary Colony near Haridwar bypass. Here, even on Thursday, the streets remained like ponds. Additional Municipal Commissioner Bir Singh Budiyal inspected the area and opened the drains in many places. Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar also reached the spot in the morning and got slabs laid in the colony with the help of three JCBs. He also gave instructions from the construction of drains to cleaning.
