News Topical, Digital Desk : The obstacles facing the production of Hera Pheri 3, the third film in the Hera Pheri franchise, seem to be showing no signs of ending.
After the dispute with actor Paresh Rawal was resolved, there were hopes that he, along with actors Akshay Kumar and Sunil Shetty, would soon begin shooting the film. However, that didn't happen, and the film faced another hurdle.
Legal battle between the makers
Now the reason for the delay is the fight between producers Feroz Nadiadwala and Vijay Kumar over the IP (intellectual property) rights of the film.
Who has the rights of Hera Pheri 3?
The first film in the franchise, Hera Pheri, released in 2000, was a Hindi remake of the Malayalam film Ramoji Rao Speaking. Producer Vijay Kumar, in an interview with Pinkvilla, claimed that he owned all the rights to both Ramoji Rao Speaking and the Hera Pheri film franchises. He had given Firoz the rights to make only one film, Hera Pheri.
Phir Hera Pheri was made without permission
Vijay Kumar alleged that Feroz had made Phir Hera Pheri without his permission, but he took no action at the time. Feroz was planning to make a third film in a similar vein, so he had to take legal action. He even wrote a letter to the producer but received no response. He then approached the court.
Will the Hera Pheri trio return?
Vijay further stated that if the rights issue between him and Firoz is resolved, he would like to make Hera Pheri 3 with Akshay, Sunil, and Paresh. It will be interesting to see when the ongoing chaos surrounding Hera Pheri 3 will end and when shooting can begin.
