News Topical, Digital Desk : A team of the Air Force and Rajasthan Intelligence has arrested an employee posted at an Air Force base in Assam on charges of spying for Pakistan. The arrested employee, 36-year-old Sumit Kumar, was posted as a Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) in the Air Force.

He is accused of leaking highly sensitive information, such as fighter jet deployments and missile systems, to Pakistani intelligence agents. Sumit is a resident of Lahurpar in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.

A case has been registered against the accused under the Official Secrets Act. Earlier, police had arrested Jhabra Ram, a resident of Jaisalmer, on charges of espionage.

What is the whole matter?

The entire case dates back to January, when the Rajasthan Intelligence Department arrested Jhabraram, a resident of Jaisalmer. During interrogation, Sumit's name emerged as a key link in the network. This action was taken based on information received from Jhabraram.

Accused of sharing confidential information

Sumit allegedly misused his position to obtain and pass on sensitive information related to Air Force operations, including deployment of fighter aircraft, missile systems and officers and personnel posted at Chabua and Nal Air Force Stations in Bikaner, officials said.

Investigators also found that he allegedly helped Pakistani handlers create social media accounts using mobile numbers registered in his name, making secret communications possible.

Brought to Jaipur for questioning

Based on confirmed information, Rajasthan Intelligence Department in coordination with Air Force Intelligence Department detained Sumit from Chabua and brought him to Central Interrogation Centre, Jaipur for interrogation.
