News Topical, Digital Desk : Ranveer Singh's film Dhurandhar: The Revenge is making a strong profit worldwide. While the film created history with its opening day collection, it fared poorly in two states.
Aditya Dhar 's Dhurandhar 2, which released in theaters on March 19th, was the most anticipated film. All shows were house-full on the first day, and theaters were thronged with moviegoers. Dhurandhar 2 is the first film to hit a century on its opening day. But did you know that Dhurandhar's magic failed to work in some states?
Dhurandhar 2 hit or flop?
According to early trade data from SacNilc, Dhurandhar 2 grossed over ₹102 crore at the domestic box office on opening day. Including paid previews, the film's collection reached over ₹145 crore. However, Hindi cinema generated the most revenue, with the film grossing around ₹99 crore.
The magic of Dhurandhar 2 did not work in the South.
Dhurandhar 2 was released in Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu. However, the film only grossed well in Hindi. In two states, the film failed to earn even one crore rupees. These states were Karnataka and Kerala.
- Hindi - Rs 99.10 crore
- Kannada - Rs 8 lakh
- Malayalam - Rs 9 lakh
- Tamil – Rs 1.16 crore
- Telugu – Rs 2.12 crore
With which films will Dhurandhar 2 clash?
While Dhurandhar 2 avoided competition from any Bollywood film, it did face off against several South Indian films that also made impressive collections. Pawan Kalyan's Telugu film, Ustad Bhagat Singh, earned a net collection of approximately ₹31.50 crore on opening day. This revenue was generated solely in the Telugu language.
Meanwhile, a Malayalam film, Aadu 3, also released, grossed 6 crore rupees on its first day. The Tamil film Youth earned 3.20 crore rupees, while the Kannada film Love Mocktail 3 opened with around 1.5 crore rupees. These films didn't have much buzz, yet they still earned crores in the South, unlike Dhurandhar 2.
