News Topical, Digital Desk : Floods in Odisha's Kendrapara district are taking a heavy toll on people's lives. The water of Brahmani and Kani rivers has entered the villages, due to which many villages in Pattamundai block and Chaudhakult area have been submerged. But this time not only floods, but crocodiles roaming in the villages have become a new problem for the people.

Swarms of crocodiles on the streets

On Friday, flocks of crocodiles were seen swimming on the submerged roads of many villages. When the flood water broke the banks of the forests and rivers and came towards the villages, the crocodiles also came along. People are now so scared that they are avoiding leaving their homes at night.

So far no crocodile attack has been officially confirmed, but the danger remains. The forest department is warning people not to enter the flood waters and to be cautious of their surroundings. Apart from this, awareness campaigns are also being run so that people are careful not only of crocodiles but also of poisonous snakes roaming in the flood waters.

The district administration is engaged in relief work. So far, dry ration and clean drinking water is being delivered to more than 30 flood-affected villages.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has warned that another low pressure area may form in the Bay of Bengal around July 24. Due to this, heavy rains are expected in many parts of Odisha, especially the coastal and northern districts, from July 23.

In such a situation, the situation in Kendrapada can worsen. People are already troubled by the floods, and on top of that, the presence of crocodiles has increased the fear. The coming days can be more challenging for the administration and the people.
