
Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will attend the 15th BRICS Agriculture Ministers' Meeting to be held in Brasilia, Brazil on April 17. He is leading the Indian delegation. Shivraj will hold bilateral meetings with Brazil's Agriculture and Livestock Minister Carlos Henrique Baqueta Favaro, Agriculture Development and Family Agriculture Minister Luiz Paulo Teixeira. The theme of this 15th BRICS Agriculture Ministerial Meeting is - "Promoting inclusive and sustainable agriculture through cooperation, innovation and equitable trade among BRICS countries." Agriculture ministers and senior officials of BRICS member countries including Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, Indonesia and Iran are expected to participate in the meeting.
The meeting will focus on increasing cooperation in these areas
During his visit, Chauhan will hold meetings with Brazil's Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Carlos Henrique Baquetta Favero and Minister of Agricultural Development and Family Farming Luiz Paulo Teixeira. These meetings will focus on enhancing cooperation between India and Brazil in various sectors of agriculture, agro-technology, rural development and food security.
Will participate in tree plantation campaign under the initiative 'One tree in the name of mother'
Union Minister Shivraj will interact with heads of major Brazilian agribusiness companies and representatives of the Brazilian Vegetable Oil Industry Association in Sao Paulo. He will explore opportunities for partnerships and investments in the agricultural value chain. He will also participate in a tree plantation drive at the Indian Embassy in Brasilia under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative aimed at raising awareness regarding environmental conservation and honouring motherhood.
Will interact with Indian expatriates
In addition, he will interact with the Indian diaspora in Sao Paulo and acknowledge their role as cultural ambassadors and contributors to bilateral relations. The visit is in line with India's commitment to strengthen cooperation with BRICS countries and advance agricultural innovation and South-South cooperation.

He wrote on Twitter, "I have arrived in Brazil to participate in the BRICS Agriculture Ministers' meeting. During this, I interacted with members of Brazil's agricultural trade community in Sao Paulo today. Meaningful discussions have taken place on important topics like agricultural trade, food processing, biofuel, bioenergy, technological innovation and supply chain integration. I am confident that mutual cooperation and joint efforts of both the countries will not only empower and prosper our farmers, but will also give a new direction to global food security."
