New Delhi: Anuj Thapan, the accused arrested in the case of firing outside the house of Bollywood star Salman Khan , committed suicide on Wednesday. Anuj Thapan's family has now filed a writ in the Mumbai High Court demanding a CBI investigation. The family and lawyers of the accused allege that it is not suicide but there is a conspiracy behind the death, which CBI should investigate. Anuj's family lawyer Rajni Khatri said that a writ has been filed in the Bombay High Court on behalf of Anuj's mother. In this, three people, the State of Maharashtra, the Crime Branch, and Salman Khan have been made parties.

The lawyer said that in the writ petition, a demand has also been made to register an FIR against actor Salman Khan, and a demand has also been made to get Anuj's death investigated by the CBI. They allege that Crime Branch officers are also involved in this incident. Anuj was given third-degree torture. This is not a suicide but a case of murder in police custody. The lawyer alleges that the Crime Branch officers who are investigating this case are themselves co-accused in MCOCA along with Chhota Shakeel. In such a situation, the fair investigation of the crime branch cannot be trusted.

Family suspicious, Anuj's death suicide not murder

Let us tell you that the accused Anuj had hanged himself in the lock-up toilet built on the first floor of the Crime Branch building in the Police Commissionerate complex of South Mumbai. Anuj was accused of providing weapons to two attackers who carried out the firing outside Salman's Galaxy Apartment in Mumbai on April 14. He was arrested by the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police. Anuj's death in lockup is already under question. The accused's lawyer Amit Mishra and Shiv Sena Thackeray faction's spokesperson Anand Dubey also expressed doubt over the suicide of the accused in such a secure lockup.

The writ petition filed in Bombay High Court

Anuj's family also suspects him of committing suicide. The family alleges that this is a case of murder in police custody. The family is suspecting a conspiracy behind the death. The family wants a CBI investigation into this matter, hence a writ petition has been filed in the Bombay High Court.
