News Topical, Digital Desk : A unique and powerful community initiative has been launched in the Zainakote ( HMT) area of Srinagar to eradicate the growing drug menace in the Kashmir Valley . Eight prominent mosques in the area have come together to form a special "action committee" whose primary objective is to completely curb the use and illegal trade of drugs.
The committee has launched its campaign with a very strict approach. Members reported that several individuals involved in drug abuse and the illegal trade have been identified. To ensure the safety of the area, the committee has handed these individuals over to the Jammu and Kashmir Police for necessary legal action. The committee states that its primary goal is to protect the future of its youth and ensure a healthy environment in society.
Strict warning given in public meeting
Last Friday (December 13), a large public meeting was held in Zainakote. Addressing the meeting, speakers categorically warned that no leniency would be shown to anyone found involved in drug trafficking or consumption. The committee made it clear that even stricter legal action would be taken against those violating the rules in the future.
Strict surveillance day and night
To prevent youth from falling into the trap of drug abuse, the committee has strengthened its surveillance system. Regular checks are being conducted on children and youth in the area, both day and night. This active monitoring aims to ensure that no outside or local elements can lure young people into drug addiction.
Final appeal to quit drugs
The Action Committee has made an impassioned and stern appeal to those currently suffering from drug addiction to immediately give up this deadly habit. The Committee reiterated that this is their last chance to reform, as the administration and society will jointly adopt a zero-tolerance policy against them.
Coordination of police and community
The committee members expressed their gratitude to the Jammu and Kashmir Police for their support in this campaign. They stated that without the police's support, action at this scale would not have been possible. The committee resolved to continue this campaign until Zainakote is completely drug-free.
