News Topical, Digital Desk : Residents of Kashmir and Ladakh will face a bitterly cold winter for the next week, with the Meteorological Department predicting dry and cloudless weather for the next five days . The lack of clouds is leading to a sharp drop in temperatures, which have already dropped below minus 6 degrees Celsius in most areas.
According to the Meteorological Center Srinagar, the weather in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh will remain mainly dry until December 5th, with no significant chance of heavy rain or snowfall. The weather will remain completely dry until December 3rd.
Hoping for some relief
Cold and dry weather will persist until December 4th. After this, the weather may change on December 4th and 5th, with cloudy skies expected in most parts starting on the evening of December 4th. Light snowfall is also possible in some higher elevations.
Temperature correction
The MeT stated that after December 4th, nighttime minimum temperatures are expected to increase by approximately 1 to 2 degrees Celsius, providing some relief from the cold. No major weather disturbances or instability are expected during this period, and conditions will remain stable in most parts of the Valley and Jammu region.
Estimates after December 6
From December 6 to December 10, the weather will be mild to generally cloudy across the Union Territory. Similar weather conditions are expected on December 11 and 12.
Fog alert
Light to moderate fog is expected at many places in the Kashmir Division and in some parts of the Jammu Division, especially during the night and morning hours. The Meteorological Department has advised locals to exercise extra caution when traveling in areas with poor visibility.
