The Indian Foreign Ministry has rejected the comments of the interim government of Bangladesh on the violence in Murshidabad, West Bengal over the Waqf Amendment Act. The Foreign Ministry has advised Bangladesh to first protect the rights of minorities in its country.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said that the comments made by Bangladesh on the incidents in West Bengal are unacceptable. This is an attempt to compare India's concerns with the persecution of minorities in Bangladesh. In Bangladesh, criminals who commit such crimes against minorities roam freely.

He said instead of making such inappropriate comments, Bangladesh should focus on protecting the rights of its minorities.
