News Topical, Digital Desk : The Bombay High Court has ordered the immediate removal of morphed photos and videos of actress Shilpa Shetty, created using AI (Artificial Intelligence). The court termed the content highly objectionable and a serious violation of the actress's rights.
Justice Advait Sethna, hearing Shilpa Shetty's petition, reviewed the AI-generated content posted on various websites and social media platforms. The court initially described these images and videos as "extremely disturbing" and stated that no person, especially a woman, can be portrayed without her knowledge or consent in a manner that violates her fundamental right to privacy.
Court orders removal of content
The court clarified in its order that such presentations were not only inappropriate and unacceptable, but also capable of causing serious damage to Shilpa Shetty's image and reputation. "In the interest of justice," the High Court ordered all relevant respondents to remove the identified URLs and delete the said content from their respective platforms immediately.

In her petition, Shilpa Shetty alleged that AI tools were being misused to imitate her voice, mannerisms, and personality, and that morphed photos, videos, books, and merchandise were being circulated online without her consent. She sought an injunction against websites hosting such content and to prevent the unauthorized use of her name, image, and voice.
Let us tell you that this order of the Bombay High Court has come at a time when many famous personalities in the country including Shilpa Shetty are knocking the doors of the court against deepfakes and fake advertisements made by AI.
