News Topical, Digital Desk : Responding to local villagers' demands, UPDA decided to build an interchange at Ataula village to connect the Hapur-Kithore road to the Ganga Expressway. As soon as land acquisition began, farmers raised questions about the demarcation.

A team of UPDA officials from Lucknow also came to Meerut to persuade the farmers. Now, preparations are underway to change the interchange alignment by re-demarcating the boundaries. Consequently, land purchases on the old alignment have been halted. Now, information regarding the new alignment and the land earmarked accordingly is awaited by UPDA.

The construction of the Ganga Expressway from Meerut to Prayagraj has been completed. Preparations are now underway for its inauguration. Following local public demand, the decision to connect the Hapur-Kithore route to the Ganga Expressway was made.

An interchange is to be built here, for which direct purchase of approximately four hectares of land was initiated from farmers in two villages, Ataula and Safiabad Lauti. Farmers from 18 Khasra plots in Ataula village refused to give up their land. They alleged that they would be paid less for the land and construction would be done on more land.

The farmers were demanding a fresh demarcation. Based on a report from the district administration, UPDA sent a team of officials from its Lucknow office to Meerut in December to speak with the farmers. In front of this team, the farmers demanded a joint demarcation by a team of UPDA, the district administration, and several other departments, including the Public Works Department.

The alignment will change and land will be purchased accordingly.

UPDA formed a joint team of officials from the expressway's operating agency, IRB Infra, the construction agency, LNT, M/s LN Malviya Infra Project Pvt. Ltd., Bhopal, and UPDA's project implementation unit to demarcate the land and determine the alignment accordingly. Following the demarcation, the district administration is now awaiting orders for the new alignment and the purchase of the land identified accordingly.
