News Topical, Digital Desk : After diesel, petrol, and gas cylinders, the dispute between the Gulf countries is now expected to impact the government purchase of wheat as well. Due to the unavailability of plastic bags made from petroleum products, wheat will be purchased in old jute bags. The government will purchase these jute bags from ration dealers and traders.
Wheat procurement centers opened on Monday under the Minimum Support Price Scheme.

This time, wheat procurement has begun at a time when war is raging in the Gulf countries. Plastic bags are supplied every year for wheat procurement, but this time, there is a growing fear that they will not be available in sufficient quantities. The reason is that due to the war in the Gulf countries, there is already a shortage of petroleum products. Plastic bags are made from polypropylene.

Searching for old sacks

In such a situation, the state government has now begun searching for old jute sacks as an alternative to plastic bags. Food and Logistics Commissioner Ranveer Prasad issued instructions to all Deputy Commissioners of Food and Logistics and District Supply Officers on March 10th.

In a letter sent by the government, it has been stated that all appropriate vendors for wheat procurement will preserve the empty jute sacks left after distributing food grains to beneficiaries. They will also ensure that no sacks are cut or torn, and they will not be sold. Furthermore, all district food and marketing officers have been assigned to gather information on the availability and price of old sacks from traders.

District Supply Officer Kunwar Dinesh Pratap Singh said that, in accordance with government instructions, all ration dealers have been directed to keep their jute sacks safe. They have been told that the government will purchase the empty sacks from them for wheat procurement, so they should keep them safe.

What did the District Food and Marketing Officer say?

District Food and Marketing Officer NK Pathak said that information regarding the price of jute bags available in the market had been requested, which has been sent. Divisional Food Controller Chandrabhan Yadav said that wheat procurement is underway at 350 purchasing centers in the Devipatan division.
