Sambhal Violence Update: The team reached Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal for the second time on Sunday (24 November) to conduct a survey. During this, violence broke out and the mob set many vehicles on fire. Four people have died in this violence, while several administrative officials along with several police personnel were injured.
In this case, the police had detained several people on Sunday. In the same sequence, today i.e. on Monday (25 November), the police has detained Zafar Ali, the Sadar (president) of Shahi Jama Masjid. The police detained Zafar Ali in front of the ABP News team.
'Your role is wrong'
Shahi Jama Masjid's Sadar (President) Zafar Ali has raised questions on the police action and arrest. During the police action, he asked what is my fault, why am I being arrested. On this, the police said, "The allegation is that your role is wrong, that is why you are being taken into custody."
Police has denied the detention of Shahi Jama Masjid's Sadar Zafar Ali. Uttar Pradesh Police said that Shahi Jama Masjid's Sadar has been detained on the basis of evidence.
Case filed against SP MP
Sambhal Superintendent of Police Krishna Kumar told the media that Sub Inspector Ekta Chowki in-charge Deepak Rathi, who was injured in the violence, has filed a case against 800 people. He said that SP MP Ziaur Rahman Barq and Sohail Iqbal have been made named accused. These people are accused of inciting the mob.
There is a tense situation in Sambhal Jama Masjid since the survey, currently a large number of police forces have been deployed on the spot. So far, a total of 2750 unknown people have been booked in 7 FIRs in this violence and the police has informed about the arrest of 25 people.
