UP News: The water corporation in Baghpat provided such water to Prime Minister Narendra Modi 's dream project 'Jal Jeevan Mission' that the project worth crores of rupees fell prey to corruption. An investigation of two villages out of the drinking water projects in 170 villages has revealed that a project worth Rs 3.12 crore was completed in Jauhari village, but till now not even a single drop of water has been available to the people.
It is being said that the officials are not ready to listen to the complaints of the people. In another village Angadpur, under a project worth Rs 2.81 crore, a drinking water tank was constructed on the bank of a pond, due to which contaminated water is entering people's homes.
The tank built in Angadpur is sometimes out of order and sometimes in working condition. Yellow water is reaching people's homes. People do not seem satisfied at all with the development of the drinking water project in both the villages. The special thing is that the Jal Nigam has shown the project in working condition on its website.
Incomplete work shown as complete on paper
In the records of Jal Nigam, the work of drinking water project in Jauhari village of Baraut block has been completed in March 2024, but on the ground, the work of laying 11 km long pipeline is still incomplete. Tube well and drinking water tank of 175 kilolitre capacity have been built, from which water supply has not started. Rs 3.12 crore has been spent on this project.
The work of drinking water project started one and a half years ago in a village with a population of ten thousand, but water has not been supplied to the houses yet. Once the drinking water supply was tested, fountains of water came out of the pipes at many places. The work of the project is being done by Gujarat's M/s LC Infra Projects Private Limited Company. The officials are not ready to listen to the problems of the villagers.
Yellow water is coming in the village
. Rs 2.81 crore has been spent on the drinking water project in Angadpur village. The construction of this project has been completed in March 2024. The villagers complain that the Jal Nigam has constructed the drinking water tank on the banks of the pond, due to which the water reaching the houses turns yellow in a short time, which seems useless for drinking.
In half the village, water does not flow with pressure. It is run on solar energy. A 6 km long pipeline has been laid in this village with a population of 8000. Sometimes water starts dripping from the tank of 200 kilolitre capacity.
The government constructed a drinking water tank in the village at a cost of crores of rupees, but this project has fallen prey to corruption. The roads of the village were dug up to lay the pipeline, but not a single drop of water has reached the houses. There is a big problem of leakage in the pipeline. The villagers are constantly demanding an investigation of the project.
JE assured of investigation.
