New Delhi. Delhi-NCR will be partly cloudy today, while the minimum temperature will be 25 degrees Celsius and the maximum will be 45 degrees Celsius. Last Thursday was recorded as the hottest day in the capital this season. The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast for the weather for the entire week.
According to IMD, the skies will be clear on Saturday and strong surface winds will blow during the day. At the same time, a heatwave alert has also been issued in Delhi-NCR. The maximum temperature here is likely to reach 45 degrees on Saturday. Apart from this, heat wave is also likely in many parts of Punjab, UP-Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra. IMD has issued an orange alert for heatwave in western Rajasthan.
Thunderstorm and lightning alert in these states
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of strong thunderstorms and lightning in South and East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha of Maharashtra, Marathwada, Central Maharashtra, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. A warning of very heavy rain has been issued in Tamil Nadu-Puducherry. An alert has been issued regarding thunderstorms, lightning and heavy rains in Assam-Meghalaya and Arunachal.
Western disturbance will be active in Himachal
At the same time, according to the Meteorological Department, Western Disturbance is going to become active again in Himachal Pradesh from May 17, but it will not have much effect. A yellow alert has been issued for thunderstorm and lightning in Chamba, Kangra, Mandi and Kullu on May 17. There is a possibility of rain in some areas till May 19.
Heat is wreaking havoc in Jammu too
The temperature in Jammu and Kashmir has been rising for the last few days. Thursday was the hottest day of the season. Along with Jammu division, the maximum temperature in Kashmir also remained above normal. According to the Meteorological Department, there is no possibility of relief from the heat in the coming days. There are chances of light clouds and rain at many places on 18-19 May, but the weather will remain dry from 20 to 25.
