Islamabad. Nine MPs of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's party PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) have demanded the removal of Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa from the bench hearing the case of the election tribunal appointed in Punjab to resolve matters related to election disputes.

General elections were held in the country on February 8. There were allegations of large-scale rigging in it. A five-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by the CJP will consider the appeal of the Election Commission of Pakistan against the decision of the Lahore High Court regarding the formation of election tribunals in Punjab to resolve election disputes related to the February 8 general elections.

Apart from Qazi Faiz Isa, Aminuddin Khan is also a member of the bench

Besides Justice Qazi Faez Isa, the bench members include Aminuddin Khan, Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi.

The Supreme Court had suspended the notification.

On July 4, the Supreme Court suspended the Lahore High Court's decision and its notification on the appointment of eight election tribunals in Punjab. The suspension was effective until negotiations between the Chief Justice of the High Court and the ECP were completed.

Demand to apply for Justice Isa

The PTI lawmakers in their application submitted to the Registrar Supreme Court have sought to file an application for the removal of Justice Isa from the bench hearing the election tribunal issue.
