According to Iran's semi-official news agency Mehr, targeting US and British military bases in the Indian Ocean is an "important step... which shows that the range of Iran's missiles far exceeds the enemy's previous imagination".
Diego Garcia, located in the Indian Ocean, is no small asset but a high-value hub for US global power projection. It is home to US heavy bombers and surveillance aircraft.
