News Topical, Digital Desk : There's good news for those setting up food processing units. They can apply to the Horticulture Department in Manjhanpur.

If eligible, they will receive a 35 percent grant from the department. The government has also set a target for this purpose this financial year.

Bananas and guavas are produced in abundance in the district. This is why these two products have been included in the One District One Product (ODOP) program. Jams, jellies, chips, and more can be made from them.

Apart from these units related to food processing, the benefit of 35 percent subsidy is given under the Pradhan Mantri Micro Food Industry Upgradation Scheme for setting up enterprises like oil mill, flour mill, rice mill, noodles etc.

For this financial year, the government has given the Horticulture Department a target of 500 people setting up food processing enterprises. District Horticulture Officer Awadhesh Kumar Mishra says that those interested in setting up food processing units can apply to the department. If found eligible, they will be granted benefits under the scheme.

Solar panels can also be installed

Under this scheme, entrepreneurs can also install solar panels in their units. Department officials say that no separate grant will be provided for this, but entrepreneurs can also install solar panels from the grant they receive for setting up or expanding their units.

This will facilitate the development of the green zone. In the past two and a half years, 49 units have been established in the district, with an investment of approximately ₹383.56 crore. Many of these units are food processing units.
