News Topical, Digital Desk : In a major raid, the GST Special Investigation Branch (SIB) raided a business establishment located in the Pakka Bagh area of Hapur city. This action caused a stir in the business sector.
During the investigation, the team found a difference of about Rs 90 lakh in the input tax credit (ITC) of the firm, after which Rs 85 lakh was deposited in the department's account on the spot.
The firm is engaged in the business of skimmed milk powder
This action was taken on the government's instructions. The GST SIB team, led by Deputy Commissioner Vimal Dubey, along with Assistant Commissioners Vipin Shukla, Satish Tiwari, and Alok Roy, investigated a firm named Janaki Das Raghuvar Dayal. The firm is involved in the business of skimmed milk powder.
The team thoroughly examined the firm's purchase and sale records, stock registers, and other financial documents. The investigation revealed significant discrepancies between the firm's claimed ITC and the actual figures. A preliminary investigation revealed irregularities totaling approximately ₹90 lakh.
Detailed investigation is pending
After this irregularity came to light, the department took immediate action and recovered ₹8.5 million from the firm. According to officials, this is only part of a preliminary investigation, and a detailed investigation of the firm is ongoing. Further investigation may uncover more irregularities.
GST department officials clarified that further legal action will be taken only after the investigation is complete. The raids have instilled fear among tax evaders, while the department has indicated that such action will continue in the future.
