News Topical, Digital Desk : To realize the vision of a smart city in Gorakhpur and address the need for smart road connectivity, the CM Grid Scheme, under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is poised to be a game-changer in new urban development. Under this scheme, a new series of smart roads is being developed in Gorakhpur without harming the environment.

The first phase of smart roads under the CM Grid project is almost complete in the city. Work on the selected roads in the second phase is progressing rapidly. Furthermore, funds have been approved for the construction of smart roads on a total of six routes in the main and supplementary lists of the third phase. Gorakhpur's share of smart roads has already received approximately ₹340 crore (approximately ₹340 crore).

Smart City is an ambitious plan of the Yogi government.

CM Grid (Chief Minister Green Road Infrastructure Development) is an ambitious project of the Yogi government linked to the Smart City vision. Gorakhpur Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Singh Sogarwal says that under CM Grid, roads are being constructed that will be safe, free from frequent vandalism, and environmentally friendly.

Trees along the CM Grid are not being removed, thus preserving the greenery. Pedestrian sidewalks and improved street lighting are also being provided.

Special ducts along the roads under CM Grid

Smart roads are also being designed to incorporate stormwater management and utility ducts. It's common to see roads dug up shortly after construction to lay electricity, telephone, or gas pipelines. Under CM Grid, special ducts are being built along roads, eliminating the need to dig up roads for pipelines in the future.

Smart roads are also important because utility ducts will provide a source of fixed income for the municipal corporation. Organizations that use utility ducts to lay pipelines (electricity, gas, etc.) for their own purposes will pay rent to the municipal corporation.

Work worth Rs 44 crore in the first phase is almost complete.

The Municipal Commissioner says that under the guidance of the Chief Minister, the work of making three roads of Raptinagar area smart at a cost of Rs 44 crore in the first phase of CM Grid in Gorakhpur metropolis has almost been completed.

In the second phase, work is progressing rapidly to transform Golghar and five surrounding roads into smart streets at a total cost of ₹53.68 crore. Furthermore, the government has approved ₹242.22 crore for the rejuvenation of six roads in the third and third supplementary phases.
