News Topical, Digital Desk : US President Donald Trump has appealed to Iran to release eight women who are reportedly being held for execution. Trump made this public appeal to improve the atmosphere for dialogue between the US and Iran.

Trump wrote on the social media platform that he expects Iran's leaders to release these women. He said that if they do, it would be a good start for future negotiations. He also said, “Please do not harm these women.”

Trump's post was accompanied by a statement from US-based pro-Israel activist Eyal Yaacobi, which claimed that eight women were at risk of execution, although this claim could not be independently verified.

Uncertainty persists over talks

The appeal comes as talks between the US and Iran are expected to resume in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad, with the US sending a team led by Vice President JD Vance.

This team includes Special Envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Iran has not yet officially confirmed its participation in the talks. Iran has stated that further talks can only take place if the US lifts its blockade on Hormuz.

The meeting will be held amid tight security in Pakistan

Trump recently warned that if Iran doesn't meet his conditions, the US could target its bridges and power infrastructure. Iran has responded by saying it will target Gulf power and water facilities if its civilian targets are attacked.

Meanwhile, Pakistan is preparing to host the potential talks. Around 20,000 security personnel have been deployed in Islamabad, although there is still no clarity on when the talks will take place.
