Israel has recovered the bodies of six hostages from the Rafah area of Gaza. Israeli soldiers found these bodies in a tunnel where they had reached shortly after the killing.
After the bodies of an American citizen and five Israeli citizens were found, anger erupted in Israel and thousands of people took to the streets to protest against the government. People said that the government has failed to secure the safe release of the hostages. There are also indications of a workers' strike in the country from Monday.
Government is not doing anything for the release of hostages: Protesters
Thousands of people took to the streets in Tel Aviv on Sunday and shouted slogans against Benjamin Netanyahu's government. Angry protesters believe that the Netanyahu government is only insisting on maintaining control over the Philadelphi corridor on the Gaza-Egypt border.
The protesters have also alleged that the Netanyahu government is not taking any necessary steps for the release of the hostages. Omri, brother of a hostage Idan Shtivi, said, "Netanyahu does not want to make any deal to release the hostages. This is why we demand the resignation of his government."
Massive protests in Tel Aviv
Thousands of Israelis rallied across the country on Sunday, demanding Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu negotiate a ceasefire with Hamas to ensure the return of hostages held in Gaza. Around 700,000 people took part in demonstrations on main roads and junctions across the country, with 550,000 attending.
Emotional demonstrations erupted outside an IDF headquarters and military base in Tel Aviv, urging the Netanyahu government to reach an agreement as soon as possible to bring the hostages home safely.
Let us tell you that Israel was attacked on 7 October last year. 1200 people lost their lives in this attack. At the same time, Hamas took more than 250 people hostage.
