News Topical, Digital Desk : Statues of Lord Krishna and the Gopis have been vandalised at a historic building in Karachi, a Pakistani Hindu activist claimed on Friday.
Pakistan Darwar Ittehad chairman Shiv Kutchi said the vandalism of idols at the historic Sagan Mason building in Karachi, which took place two days ago, was highly condemnable.
He said in a post on internet media that this is not just damage to a building but an attack on Pakistan's multicultural heritage, religious harmony and sentiments of minority communities.
He further said that the government should investigate the incident and take action against the culprits, as this act has deeply hurt the Hindu community.
He said the culprits should be immediately arrested and severely punished, and the restoration and preservation of this historic building should be ensured immediately.
Built before independence in 1937, the building houses precious statues and other religious symbols of the Hindu community. He said the government should ensure the protection of minority religious and historical sites.
