News Topical, Digital Desk : Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was taken to hospital accompanied by a police guard after falling ill in prison, his son Flavio said on Tuesday.

Flavio wrote on X that his father was suffering from hiccups, vomiting, and low blood pressure. Calling it an emergency, he added, "I pray it's nothing serious."

Has Bolsonaro become weak?

Bolsonaro was sentenced last week to 27 years in prison for plotting a coup after losing the 2022 election to Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. His lawyers have said they will appeal.

On Sunday, eight pieces of skin were removed from the lesion for biopsy. His doctor, Claudio Birolini, said Bolsonaro had become very weak and had developed anemia. The doctor added that Bolsonaro had become extremely weak due to a poor diet over the past month.
