News Topical, Digital Desk : US President Donald Trump recently advised pregnant women not to take Tylenol (paracetamol) because it could cause autism in children. He made this statement from the White House, saying it was based on common sense.
Medical experts immediately denounced this claim as false and dangerous. Even Kenvue, the company that makes Tylenol, stated clearly that there is no scientific evidence to support such claims. Doctors warned that such advice could confuse pregnant women and endanger the health of both mother and baby.
False claim by US Health Secretary
Trump's Secretary of Health, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has long questioned vaccines. He runs an anti-vaccine organization and has called the COVID vaccine the most dangerous vaccine ever. He also claimed that by September he would find a cure for autism and eliminate its causes.
However, experts have criticized this claim as misleading and dangerous. Trump himself has previously talked about changing vaccine schedules, such as staggering the MMR vaccine and delaying the hepatitis B vaccine until age 10. Doctors say this could leave children vulnerable to serious diseases.
Kennedy's statement on raw milk
In June 2024, Kennedy stated that he only drinks raw milk. However, health agencies have stated that this milk contains dangerous bacteria that can cause diarrhea, food poisoning, and serious infections.
The FDA and CDC have warned that raw milk is especially dangerous for people with weakened immune systems. It's sold in more than 39 states in the US, but its sale is banned at the federal level. However, Kennedy's statement could send the wrong message and harm health.
Trump praised Kennedy
When Trump appointed Kennedy as his health secretary, he promised to work with integrity and make America healthier. However, his controversial and anti-science statements are raising concerns among doctors and experts. The CDC and other medical bodies have urged the public not to rely on such misleading claims and to only follow advice based on scientific evidence.
