News Topical, Digital Desk : More than 20 stray cows have been found dead in Hisar over the past three days. The deaths are believed to be due to health problems caused by excessive consumption of food such as halwa and puri given by people. Sita Ram Singhal, founder director of the Gau Seva Helpline Committee in Hisar, said that during the ongoing festival season, many people feed cows such food, thinking they are doing a virtuous deed, but in reality, they prove detrimental to the cows' health.

For the past several years, Sitaram Singhal's NGO has been involved in caring for stray cows, rescuing sick or injured cows, and getting them treated by a veterinary doctor. Singhal said, "On average, only one or two stray cows die daily in Hisar city. But in the past three days, more than 20 cows have died in different areas of the city.

At which places in Hisar did cows die?

He said, "It's likely that these cows died after eating things like halwa and puri. Eating too much of these foods can lead to complications like acidosis and ultimately death. The cows died in Mahavir Colony, PLA Area, Sector 14, Mirzapur Road, Shanti Nagar, Mill Gate, and other areas.

Fried food proves fatal for cows!

Sitaram Singhal said, "Some people may think that feeding a single puri or a little halwa won't harm a cow, but they don't realize that the animal may have already eaten more because other people may have fed these things to stray cows elsewhere. When cows eat large quantities of fried food, it becomes difficult to digest after some time and can prove fatal for them."

Avoid feeding puri and halwa to animals – Doctor

Dr. Nilesh Sindhu, an expert at Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, said, "Excessive consumption of fried foods like puri and halwa can lead to complications in animals. Without timely treatment, they can die." He advised that animals should be fed their basic diet—green fodder and straw. Avoid feeding fried foods like puri and halwa, as these are harmful to animals.

What appeal did the Mayor of Hisar make to the people?

Hisar Mayor Parveen Popli has appealed to city residents not to feed fried foods, halwa, puri, sweets, and other similar food items to cows and other animals. These foods have adverse effects on animals, as they can harm their digestive systems and cause numerous health problems. She warned that they can even lead to serious conditions that could endanger the animals' lives.
