News Topical, Digital Desk : The sudden death of singer Zubeen Garg has left his fans in Assam and beyond in deep shock. Along with the tributes, an old interview has surfaced in which the singer spoke about how he wanted to feel in his final moments. The 52-year-old singer also expressed his wish for his funeral.
What was Zubin's last wish?
In his last interview, Zubeen expressed his deep affection not for the Brahmaputra but for his homeland. He said, “It's a wonderful place. One of the best places. I'll live there and die there. They should burn me there. Or drown me in the Brahmaputra. I'm a soldier. I'm like Rambo.”
He expressed his final wish, stating that he wanted his body cremated on the banks of the Brahmaputra River or that his remains be immersed in the river. He also spoke about his life and legacy, saying, "I'm crazy. I want to give everything I have to people, not to myself. I'm happy here. I have my own studio, this is my home."
Zubeen is known for bringing Assamese music to national recognition. He rose to fame in Bollywood with his song "Ya Ali" in the film "Gangster" (2006). The singer was often called the "king of humming." Zubeen, 52, died in a tragic scuba diving accident in Singapore on Friday.
Crowds of fans gathered for the last glimpse
In a post on X, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "More and more people want to see our beloved Zubeen for the last time, and we deeply understand their sentiments. Therefore, the Bhogeshwar Barua Stadium will remain open throughout the night tonight for the public to pay their respects to Zubeen. Tomorrow too, Zubeen's body will be kept at Sarusajai for public viewing."
