The U.S. Coast Guard said Sunday that emergency crews responded late Saturday to reports of a plane downed about 300 yards off Point Pinos in Monterey County.
Eyewitnesses heard the loud sound of the plane's engine. People on the shore saw the debris of the crashed plane floating.
The twin-engine plane with three people on board took off from San Carlos Airport at 10.11pm on Saturday and was last seen near Monterey at 10.37pm. Coast Guard boats and helicopters have been deployed to search for the crew.
