News Topical, Digital Desk : After the recent conflict between India and Pakistan, Indian platforms have started removing Pakistani shows. Now there is a demand to remove Turkish dramas from OTT as well. The reason for this is that Turkey stood against India amid the recent India-Pakistan tension. Zee5 has already removed its Turkish shows and other streaming apps may also do so soon.

G5 took the first step

This decision has been taken after Turkey's continued support to Pakistan during tensions with India. Let us tell you that Turkish dramas are in great demand in India, with titles like Ertugrul, Feriha and Masoom becoming household names. All of them are winning the hearts of a large audience. However, after the recent developments, the platform has started pulling back. ZEE5 removed Relationship Status: It's Complicated and some other Turkish series last week, but there was not much discussion about it.

Instructions have not been issued by the government

We have been monitoring public sentiment for several weeks now. Though there is no directive from the government, we took a business decision to avoid a potential backlash. These titles that form part of the Zindagi bouquet were doing well in tier-1 and -2 cities, but the risk of reputational damage outweighed the benefits," Mid Day reported.

Apart from this, many YouTube channels which stream Turkish dramas are also being monitored closely. One such channel is Live Pakistan, which is known for broadcasting Resurrection: Ertuğrul. It is currently not available in India.
