News Topical, Digital Desk : Senior Maharashtra Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar has criticized US President Donald Trump over the shooting at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner. The Congress leader said it was inevitable given his style of governance.
Wadettiwar, a five-time Congress MLA, said, "Trump tried to establish his dominance globally and destabilize other countries. As you sow, so shall you reap... Since things didn't turn out as he expected, this was bound to happen."
'People in India are in a similar mood'
He further stated that Trump's decisions have harmed America. He made a controversial statement, saying that the mood in India is no different. However, Wadettiwar refrained from naming any political leaders or constitutional positions.
"Since people are not taking to the streets here, there is an illusion that everything is fine. But the feeling among the people is still the same that India has been harmed," he said.
'The incident was unfortunate'
Wadettiwar said the firing incident itself was unfortunate. "This shouldn't have happened to someone holding such a high position," he said. "But public reaction often reflects the nature of leadership."
