News Topical, Digital Desk : Following the NDA government's formation in Bihar with a landslide victory, the government has begun working in various sectors. In this regard, a recent cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar took a significant decision to give Bihar a new direction in the fields of education and research. The old powerhouse, long in disrepair and closed for approximately 45-50 years, will now be developed into a modern energy museum (Power Museum).

Students, researchers, elderly and youth will benefit

As soon as news of this initiative spread, enthusiasm was felt in Karbighhia and surrounding areas of the capital. Locals say that converting this abandoned historical structure into a museum will benefit not only students, researchers, elders, and youth from Patna but the entire state. They believe this step will further accelerate Bihar's progress in the areas of education, research, heritage conservation, and tourism.

Construction of the power house began in 1930.

It is said that construction of this powerhouse began in 1930, coinciding with the beginning of electricity generation in the capital, Patna. However, due to the increasing population and expansion of surrounding areas, including Karbighhia, Jakkanpur, Kankarbagh, New Market, and Chiraiyatand, its operation was halted in 1934. The powerhouse remained closed since then. In 2019, a proposal to convert this historic complex into an energy museum received formal approval.

Responsibility to Bihar State Power Holding Corporation Limited

Dilip Singh, General Manager of PESU, stated that the responsibility for the construction of the Power Museum has been assigned to Bihar State Power Holding Corporation Limited. A special civil wing has also been formed to ensure the smooth completion of the project. It is estimated that the construction of the Energy Museum will be completed within the next two to three years.
