Sadhana has won many awards

Sadhana Sargam sang nearly 15,000 songs in 36 languages ​​during her singing career. A trained classical singer, she received a Filmfare Award South, five Maharashtra State Film Awards, four Gujarat State Film Awards, and one Odisha State Film Award.

Sadhana Sargam was born Sadhana Ghanekar in Dabhol, Maharashtra, on March 7, 1969. Her mother, Neela Ghanekar, was a classical singer and music teacher who introduced Sadhana to the world of music at an early age.

The first song was sung for Doordarshan

At the age of six, she sang her first song, "Ek Chidiya Anek Chidiya," composed by Vasant Desai, for Doordarshan. She also performed at the Sawai Gandharva Music Festival at the age of four. On Vasant Desai's advice, her mother sent her to learn music from Pandit Jasraj. Sadhana received music lessons from him for seven years.

Sadhana Sargam made her debut as a playback singer in the Gujarati film Kanku Pagli. She then sang "Door Nahi Rehna" in the Hindi film Rustom. However, her first released song was "Saat Saheliyaan" from Vidhaata (1982), composed by Kalyanji-Anandji.

Who gave the nickname 'Sargam'?

It was Kalyanji who gave her the nickname Sargam, meaning musical notes, as he felt her name should reflect her musical talent. Sadhana Sargam gained real recognition with the song "Neele Neele Amber Par" from the 1983 film Kalakaar.

She then sang for Khudgarz, Khoon Bhari Maang, Kishan Kanhaiya, Imaandar, Jaisi Karni Waisi Bharni, Daata, Dariya Dil, Tridev, Kala Bazaar, Naache Naagin Gali Gali, and B.R. Chopra's popular television series Mahabharata. The singer was last seen in Mahakumbh.

Sang many devotional songs

Her song "Jab Koi Baat Bigad Jaaye" from the film "Zorm" proved to be a huge hit. Sadhana Sargam is not only a prolific playback singer, but also a singer of devotional songs, classical music, ghazals, and pop albums. She has released several albums of bhajans and spiritual songs, such as "Sai Darshan," "Om Namah Shivay," and "Shri Krishna Sharanam Mamah."
