News Topical, Digital Desk : If you don't believe in yourself, you shouldn't become an actor, says South Indian actor Nikhil Siddhartha, who will be seen in a new avatar in the historical film "Swayambhu."
Nikhil says, "An artist must have self-confidence, otherwise they shouldn't become an actor. I know my limitations as an actor. 'Swayambhu' isn't like 'Baahubali.' I'm not a king or a warrior in it. It's just the story of a boy from a small village."
Nikhil continued, "People think he can't do anything, but he does something that changes the fate of an empire. Indeed, in 985 AD, there was a man named Krishnan Raman, the character I play in the film. We can learn a lot from history and avoid repeating mistakes. This film will appeal to young people who dream big and achieve great fame despite facing taunts."
Everyone is equal on my set – Nikhil
Does Nikhil also consider himself self-made? To this, he says, “I don't know, but it's been 19 years since my first film, 'Happy Days,' and I've done 42 films so far. There have been many challenges along the way. I've learned that it's important to treat everyone equally on set, whether they're an assistant or a big star. I'm building my market step by step. It's taking time, but if I'm here, I've definitely achieved something.”
We rehearse a lot for the action sequences.
Nikhil has done several scenes with a horse in the film "Swayambhu." This was quite challenging for him. He explains, “The horse's name in the film is Maruti. In the film, I not only had to ride the horse, but also shoot arrows while sitting on it. Maruti had to control me with his feet. I would rehearse for every action sequence and then perform the scene. For six or seven months, Maruti was in a stable near my house. I would go and meet him every two days.”
This is how Hindi improved
Regarding work in Hindi cinema, Nikhil says, "I've received offers from several production houses, but my mother always tells me that if you don't think carefully, you'll be at home and at the creek. Create your own path, and if a good opportunity arises, move forward. Currently, I'm busy making Telugu films, but if something good ever comes my way, I'll do it."
Nikhil credits Dainik Jagran for his fluency in Hindi. He says, “Dainik Jagran is a very large publication. I read it a lot. Because of it, my Hindi is very good.”
Not every film is for everyone.
Nikhil's pan-India film "Karthikeya 2," which released in 2022, will now continue with "Karthikeya 3." Nikhil says, "The term 'Pan-India' is being used a lot these days. We took two and a half years to make 'Karthikeya 3' because if we had made it immediately, it wouldn't have garnered as much interest."
This time the story will be different from 'Karthikeya 2'. 'Karthikeya 3' may be a pan-India film, but I don't make every film of mine pan-India. We must live in reality. Not every film is made for the entire country. Sometimes regional language films are made specifically for that region. After working in films for so many years, we now know which films can become pan-India and which cannot!
