News Topical, Digital Desk : You've often heard Bollywood's "Mr. Perfectionist" Aamir Khan talk about films, stories and his craft, but it's rare to see him be completely honest and open about his "imperfect" personal and married life.

Aamir Khan recently opened up about the darkest period of his life, when he consumed an entire bottle of alcohol one night in grief, a process that continued for the next year and a half. The actor himself revealed this. What grief was driving Aamir Khan to despair? Let's read in detail below:

'I couldn't control my emotions'

Aamir Khan recently appeared on an episode of Barun Das's show "Duologue," where he spoke about his state of mind when his marriage to his first wife, Reena Dutta, ended. Aamir said,

I drank a bottle of wine every night for a year and a half.

Aamir, recalling that painful night, said, "That night, when Reena left... I had a few bottles of liquor at home to serve to guests, so I started drinking. After that, for the next one and a half years, I drank a bottle every night. For someone who never touched alcohol, drinking a bottle every night was too much."

'It was very sad for me and my family'

This isn't the first time Aamir Khan has expressed his grief over the breakup of his marriage with Reena Dutta. He previously said on Karan Johar's show, "Reena and I were married for 16 years, after which we separated. It was very sad for both of us and our families. We dealt with the situation as best we could. Reena and I never lost respect for each other."

Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta married on April 18, 1986. They eloped and got married. Aamir was only 21 years old when he married Reena. However, after 16 years of marriage, the couple separated due to irreconcilable differences. They have two children: son Junaid and daughter Aira.
